When a fault occurs, dangerous voltage appears on exposed metal. A well-designed earthing system gives that current a deliberate, low-resistance path straight to the ground — protecting people and equipment. The catch: conventional earthing degrades exactly when you need it, as chemicals dry out and electrodes corrode.
